D3 Design
The d3 design team provides a mix of the most outstanding recent design graduates working alongside Clive Solari and David Francis. Clive and David have over 30 years of extensive experience both overseas and in Australia.Each product has an interesting start to life... here are a couple: Vase Deferens started life as a very limited company 'teaser'. They only intended to make about 50 of them to present to prospective clients. The initial batch was ceramic and to give them the weight they needed to sway without toppling over they added a lead shot/epoxy mix to the base. They loved the look of the vase but were not happy with the quality of the early batch. They realised that the only way to get the function, quality and appeal they desired was to switch to higher volume manufacturing methods - die-casting for the base and injection moulding for the top. This meant a commitment to manufacture many more than originally intended and set up the first run of commercial product.
