black + blumblack + blum are an Anglo-Swiss partnership who joined forces in 1998 and are based in London, at the European heart of design.
black + blum originally functioned as a design consultancy advising companies on any creative aspect and accumulating insight into different markets. This insight catalysed their decision to develop their own range of products. It has since become a vehicle for the designers - Dan Black and Martin Blum - to fully explore and enjoy their own creativity. Their designs have won numerous awards and are sold through selected stores all over the world. They are passionate about design and realise that a true black + blum product is always a joint input of Dan and Martin's personalities.
They are driven by the opportunity to give each design its own unique character and soul, and their brief is to create functional products that will charm and entertain. You can see this passion and fun manifesting in products like "James" - not just a doorstop or bookend, James has become his own character and moves into your home as a friend.

Dan Black + Martin BlumDan Black: From a manufacturing background, Dan grew up discussing products and design with his family from an early age. His passion and skill for design was recognised in a first class honours degree from the respected Design for Industry course at the University of Northumbria (Newcastle).
Dan gained further professional foresight working at IDEO (London). Frog Design (California) and under Julian Brown at Studio Brown (Bath). Dan completed successful group projects with his friend Martin Blum whilst studying in Newcastle, sparking the idea for the creative partnership that is now black + blum.
Martin Blum: Martin was born and raised in Switzerland. An early apprenticeship as a commercial clerk with a product design company provided his first insight on the development and distribution of products. He then gained an industrial design degree from the highly respected course at the University of Northumbria (Newcastle). Martin's cultural and design reference is a juxtaposition of his Swiss youth and enduring love affair for all things British.
Martin's work has been acknowledged by internationally recognised design awards.

All orders are shipped through Australian Air Express which is barcoded and trackable. If the packed article is too large - it is then shipped via courier.

Special order items cannot be returned or exchanged unless faulty. Delivery times vary from a few days to 12+ weeks, a staff member will contact you to advise.

delivery of your goods within Australia
All parcels are sent via Australian Air Express within Australia. All parcels need to be signed for on delivery, so we recommend use of a business address if there will not be someone home during business hours. If your parcel cannot be delivered you will receive a notification card and and you will need to make alternative arrangements for collection with the courier. If not collected, it may be returned to top3 by design and any re-delivery charges will be charged to the customer.You can check on the progress of your delivery any time using the link sent to you via email upon dispatch of your order. International deliveries + bulky items
All shipping is calculated as flat rate and quoted for Australian delivery. Any International deliveries or items marked as "bulky" or "additional shipping may apply" will be calculated based on goods and destination and charged at checkout. If, in the rare situation that delivery costs exceed your expectations and you wish to cancel the order, top3 by design will fully refund the amount currently charged to your card on that order.
RETURNS + EXCHANGES POLICY
Your satisfaction is our main concern. If you are unhappy with an item you can return it for an exchange, store credit or refund which will be issued in the same form as the original payment, within 14 calendar days of the receipt.
Customer satisfaction
It is very important to us that Top3 by design customers are satisfied with their purchase and understand our terms and conditions. Please read the following policy regarding returns and exchanges. If you remain in any way uncertain, please call or email us.The product you return must be in: new, unused, pristine and unmarked condition, with all the original packaging in unmarked, saleable condition. Proof of purchase must be provided for all returns. Proof of purchase can be in the form of a receipt, credit card statement, or top3 membership ID if the item has been purchased on your top3 membership.
Special Order items (which are indicated online as such) are not able to be returned or exchanged, as they are ordered by customer request.
Products can be returned instore or to our warehouse. If you are sending the item back to the top3 warehouse please notify us before you return the item by phone (1300 867 333) or email (orders@top3.com.au) so we can provide you with a returns form and the instructions for returning your items. If you would like to request an exchange you can let us know at this time of your new selection, so we are able to reserve this for you.
Faulty items: If you receive an item that you consider to be flawed or faulty upon delivery, please contact us immediately to discuss its repair or replacement by either phone (1300 867 333) or email (orders@top3.com.au).
top3 by design is not responsible for any item that is not returned in a new, unused and unmarked condition. We do not sell imperfect items and will not accept the return of any item, which is considered marked or imperfect. Please also note that packaging is an inherent part of the product, and a full refund or credit will not be issued if the packaging is not returned.
